Energy Southeast is a joint action agency, a consortium of 11 public power systems that serves the southeastern United States.

There really is strength in numbers. By pooling resources, Energy Southeast’s 11 public power utilities gain the economies of scale needed to be efficient in today’s marketplace. Together, they can purchase low cost, reliable electricity for their communities and take advantage of the latest technologies to better serve customer needs. This collaborative approach results in substantial savings for their communities. Energy Southeast strives for economic opportunity through innovation.

Black Bear Solar Energy Project

Energy Southeast’s collaborative solar project, in partnership with Lighsource bp, located in south Montgomery County, is one of the largest of its kind in Alabama. The 100 MW project is located on 800 acres and includes 280,000 solar panels. It provides enough power for more than 20,000 homes.
